Welcome to the museum’s new webpage! Check back often to find out about special events being held at the museum and also to get an up close look at some of our less prominent artifacts.
The Sampson County History Museum is a treasure trove of old photographs. I will be posting some on this page in hopes a face or a place may be recognized, causing a special memory to put a smile on someone’s face.
This picture posted here was among items that belonged to Gordon Cashwell of Ingold. There were several pictures of him in military uniform, but apparently relaxing at home on leave. There were also quite a few taken of Germany.

This one caught my eye. It was obviously taken in Clinton, but I don’t know the date. On the back, someone wrote Ivey Taylor, Jr.; the Sturgeon; and Emmett Highsmith. I would love to know the story behind this picture. If you know the history and want to share, please email me at schm@intrstar.net or call 910-592-0007.
